What we test

Five labs. One complete picture.

No single test can tell the whole story. Each lab reveals a different piece of how your body is functioning. Together, they uncover the patterns behind your symptoms and provide a clear understanding of your health.

GI-MAP

A healthy gut is essential for breaking down food, absorbing nutrients, regulating the immune system, and maintaining a balanced microbiome. This comprehensive stool analysis evaluates the gut microbiome, digestive function, immune activity, inflammation, and potential pathogens.

Stress & Hormone Profile

Hormones influence nearly every aspect of health, including energy, sleep, mood, metabolism, stress resilience, and reproductive health. This saliva test measures sex hormones, cortisol rhythm, circadian rhythm, and adrenal output across the day.

Metabolic Wellness Profile

Every day your body must break down food, process toxins, and protect itself from cellular damage. This dried urine panel helps identify hidden stressors that impact your overall health by measuring detoxification capacity, oxidative stress, and nutrient absorption.

Mucosal Barrier Assessment

A healthy gut lining acts as a protective barrier controlling what passes into your bloodstream and what stays inside your digestive tract. Using a finger prick blood spot sample, this test evaluates intestinal barrier integrity and histamine metabolism to help identify factors that contribute to inflammation and ongoing symptoms.

Oxford MRT Food Sensitivity Test

Unlike food allergies, delayed food sensitivities can trigger symptoms hours or days after exposure, making them difficult to identify on your own. This blood panel identifies delayed inflammatory reactions to 170 foods and food chemicals.

Why so many people feel stuck

The body doesn’t work one system at a time so testing it that way can leave you chasing symptoms instead of understanding what’s actually connected.

Gut health affects inflammation, hormones, nutrient absorption, energy, and immune function. Stress influences digestion, blood sugar, hormones, and recovery. One imbalance can create ripple effects across the entire body.

The trial-and-error approach vs. The Functional Method

That’s why The Functional Method runs five complementary functional labs together from the beginning. Each test adds context to the others, creating one comprehensive picture instead of five separate pieces.

Testing one area at a time can mean months of waiting, repeated appointments, changing protocols, and additional testing costing more time, energy, and money along the way.

My story
Madison Poveromo, FDN-P

After years of struggling with Hashimoto’s, gut dysfunction, fatigue, brain fog, hormone imbalances, and hearing “your labs look normal,” followed by, “there is nothing more I can do to help you” I refused to believe that feeling this way was simply something I had to accept. I became determined to understand what was happening in my body and dedicated myself to finding answers.

Through extensive research, comprehensive functional lab testing, and the Functional Diagnostic Nutrition methodology, I uncovered the root causes behind my symptoms. By applying what I learned, I put my Hashimoto’s into remission and got my life back.

That journey inspired me to become a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner so I could help others do the same. Today, I help clients move beyond symptom management by identifying the underlying imbalances contributing to their symptoms and creating personalized plans that support lasting health.
